GMC Sierra Hybrid

Once again, GMC's commitment to never say, "That's good enough," is about to go on display. In early 2009, GMC will introduce the Sierra Hybrid - a full-size, fully capable V8 powered truck that is planned to deliver a 40% improvement in city fuel economy when compared to the 2008 6.0L non-hybrid Sierra.
	Powered by GM's patented 2-Mode Hybrid, Sierra Hybrid will offer the best of both worlds: hybrid benefits in both stop-and-go traffic, or on the highway. GM offers the only full size pickups with hybrid powertrains.
Here's how the 2-Mode Hybrid system works: The first mode is used at low speeds and with light loads, running exclusively under electric power. On the highway, the second mode engages a full V8 engine for confident towing, passing, or climbing.
	GMC made sure that all the power and performance that defines Sierra is still there. The Sierra Hybrid's Vortec 6.0L V8 engine will produce 332 horespower (248kW) at 5,100 rpm and 367 lb-ft of torque (497 Nm) at 4,100 rpm and has a 6,100-pound (2,767 kg) towing capacity.
