efficiency. For 2008, you have an even greater choice of engines.
Canyon Extended and Crew Cab models with SLE or SLT trim are now
available with a powerful Vortec 5.3L V8 engine. If you have other
needs or priorities you can select the standard 185-horsepower Vortec
1-4 2.9L Engine - or the available 242-horsepower Vortec 1-5 3.7L
Engine. Whichever you choose, you're rewarded with a combination of
performance, fuel efficiency and long-term

Canyon's choice of optional engines is more
impressive than ever. Canyon models with the available Vortec 3.7L 1-5
provide an extraordinary combination of power and fuel efficiency.
Canyon Extended and Crew Cab models with the Vortec 3.7L 1-5 and an
automatic transmission are capable of trailering up to 5500 lbs.
Another major advantage of both the Vortec 2.9L and 3.7L's inline
design is smooth, quiet operation, reinforced by a dual-balance shaft
system. |

The Canyon has what it takes to absorb the bumps,
handle the curves and supply superb traction-and do it all loaded or
unloaded. A variety of professional grade designs contributes to its
impressive handling capabilities. Depending on the model and suspension
package you choose, either front independent coil springs or front
independent torsion bars, complemented by a rear semifloating axle with
two-stage multileaf springs, contribute to Canyon's heavy-duty
capabilities. And every model features rack-and-pinion steering for
precise steering

DESIGNED FOR COMFORT AND CONTROL.
The Canyon's interior is as stylish as it is
functional. Its ergonomic design offers fingertip control of the
interior environment. Chrome accents on SLE and SLT models give details
a distinctive look. And a tire pressure monitoring system alerts the
driver of low tire pressure by displaying a message in the Driver
Information Center on the dashboard.
The Canyon Extended Cab is the
first model in its class to offer factory-installed underseat-storage
with a flat loading floor, providing you with additional storage space

OnStar is a GM

Canyon's interior is designed for spaciousness,
quiet comfort and convenience. Advanced acoustic engineering includes a
composite material called Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) used in the dash
for noise reduction, as well as triple door seals to help ensure a
quiet ride. Rear-seat heat ducts (Crew Cab models) keep rear-seat
passengers comfortable. And GM's LATCH system (a combination of Lower
Anchorages and Top Tethers for Children) makes it especially convenient
to secure a child's car
seat. |

LOADING
Canyon is designed to accept a plywood divider, creating two
tiers of
loading space. Bed anchors allow use of tiedown straps to securely
carry cargo with four anchors featured on all
models
SPLIT-BENCH REAR SEAT
Crew Cab models have a rear split-bench seat that comfortably
accomodates three people, with three-point safety belts for all rear
passengers. When you need more room, simply flip down the
seat. |

and rear bumpers are chrome, and the rear bumper has a step. The pickup
box is big enough for serious jobs. All models have a 52.4-inch
tailgate width, and a 57.2-inch bed floor width. The bed length depends
on cab configuration. |
